Recommended needles when using one strand:
Embroidery needle 3, Ballpoint Embroidery Needle 3, Ballpoint embroidery needle 22

  • twisted from four strands
  • non-strandable
  • medium twisted
  • slight sheen
  • mercerized (see above)
  • round thread
  • lies on the fabric like a mini cord
  • use relatively short strands so that the sheen is retained
  • sheen is lost due to friction when you come up and out
  • as soon as the thread begins to roughen or appear dull, carefully twist it clockwise
  • The available sizes of Cotton á Broder always vary a bit with the “fashion”, i.e. the stitching techniques that are currently being preached by lobbyists. It’s a pity, because Cotton á Broder is one of the most beautiful embroidery threads.
  • The #25 we have available is one of the most common sizes. The strongest Cotton á Broder is Size 8. I’ve even had an old Cotton á Broder #100 in my hand! The higher the number, the finer!
